To abide by the Fundraising Code of Ethics which declares that a trust relationship exists between SOS BC and the public to whom it appeals for financial gifts in support of it's programs and services
- To provide programs that are measured against national standards of "best practice". Through our accreditation with the Council on Accreditation in 2007, we have demonstrated that we meet the highest National standards of professional performance.
- SOS BC is part of Imagine Canada's Ethical Program. The Ethical Fundraising and Financial Accountability Code lays out a set of standards for charitable organizations to manage and report their financial affairs responsibly. The Ethical Code is available by going to www.imaginecanada.ca
In 2006, the staff at SOS BC completed the COA accreditation process. Proactively working to ensure best practices and quality service delivery, our arduous pursuit to become accredited with COA was rewarded in April of 2007. Accreditation is a strategy for an organization to be accountable, as well as to measure and validate its achievement. It involves a very detailed review and analysis of all our operations and service delivery, measured against national standards of "best practice".
In April 2011 SOS BC opted not to re-apply with COA for ongoing accreditation. Across the organization we have developed and put in place the best procedures and practices that the COA diligently teaches their members. SOS BC continues to comply with all applicable federal, provincial, municipal and local government laws, by-laws and regulations.
